United Airlines announced the suspension of its Iseral daily flight amid an escalation of the situation in the Middle East. The suspension begins with Wednesday night’s flight from Newark to Tel Aviv. A representative at United Airlines said in an emailed comment to NBC News that the carrier had decided to do so for security reasons and would assess the next actions while monitoring the situation further very closely. The company, however, indicated that the resumption of service would be guided by the primary concern for the safety of customers and crew members.
Delta Air Lines said that it would suspend its service between New York’s JFK airport and Tel Aviv until at least August 2. The airline informed the public that it had ceased sales of tickets for some flights on the dates of July 31, August 1, and August 2. Delta said that it had provided a waiver for travel to and from Israel up to August 14, meaning that their clients can change their plans without worrying about being charged a fare difference. The carrier noted that it will maintain customer notice of further schedule changes as it assessed the security situation in the area.
Customers affected by these changes will be notified via the Fly Delta app and through the contact information provided in their reservations, Delta advised.

It had been noticed that in the case where a U.S. airline or a flight leaving from a U.S. airport cancels a flight, passengers are due a cash refund, even for nonrefundable tickets.
It was stated that back in October, U.S. airlines already stopped flights to and from Tel Aviv because of regional fighting between Israel and Palestinian militants. American Airlines had not yet reinstated its flights to the region.
The story also mentioned that a State Department travel advisory has been issued for the region, cautioning that U.S. citizens reconsider travel to Israel and the West Bank and not travel to Gaza.
