United Flight Forced To Undergo A ‘deep Clean’ After A Passenger Experienced Medical Issue

A United Airlines flight developed an anomaly on Sunday, which forced it to make an unscheduled landing at Dulles International Airport in Virginia. In the United fleet, Flight UA2477 was manned by 155 passengers and was a Boeing 737-800. It had departed Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport a few minutes after 9:30 a.m. headed for Boston.

The diversion was due to a “medical issue” a passenger experienced, according to a report from the United Airlines. In another development, audio posted on RadarBox.com heard a crew member explain that the situation on board was being described as “quite bad,” crew members vomiting, with passengers even requesting masks.

The plane touched down at Dulles International Airport about 1:30 p.m. According to an airport spokeswoman, despite the very dramatic atmosphere, no passengers or crew had to receive medical treatment or be transported to the hospital.

Once landed, the aircraft was hustled off for a total cleaning. United Airlines mentioned about the attempt to get the flight back on the road to Boston as early as possible. The Flight, alas, left Virginia after 5:15 p.m and was destined to reach the Logan International Airport at Boston, just a few minutes before 8:00 p.m.

It was another indication of just how time-critical medical situations in-flight could really be: the report stated that a crew member had told the control tower that immediate landing was deemed necessary, for which he gave reason as a “biohazard.”
